The Mediterranean is Nidus's premium internal lever range, with six named profiles: Marino, Rialto, Roma, Altro, Metro Round, and Metro Square. All share a 63mm rose, concealed fixing, and a 60mm backset on privacy sets. They are the most-specified architectural lever range in Australian residential construction, and are regularly ordered by name — an architect specifying "Nidus Rialto in PVD Brushed Nickel" is a direct lever-name search.
The Venetian is Nidus's 304-grade stainless steel lever range. Where the Mediterranean uses zinc alloy, the Venetian uses solid stainless steel — which provides superior corrosion resistance for coastal properties, high-humidity environments, and commercial applications with heavy use. The Venetian levers have a minimalist Italian-influenced profile and carry a longer finish warranty than the zinc alloy ranges due to the inherent durability of the material.
Most Nidus levers use a fixed 60mm backset — the standard in the majority of Australian residential doors. Nidus eurobolts are adjustable between 60mm and 70mm. For cavity sliding privacy sets, backsets are either 35mm or 50–55mm depending on the door stile. Unsure which you need? If your door has a 54mm crossbore — the modern Australian standard — yes. Mediterranean roses are machined for a 50mm hole. Nidus spacer rings sit behind the rose and cover the gap cleanly. Project Series levers (Lonsdale, Collins, Spring) suit the 54mm crossbore directly with no spacer required. If you are matching an existing lever and are unsure of your hole size, bring your door dimensions to any of our Melbourne stores and we will confirm before you order.
Not on a rose alone. External hinged entrance doors require a mortice lock body. The correct specification is a Nidus OZI combination set — Mediterranean or Lonsdale levers on a longplate, paired with the Australian-made OZI mortice lock. For external sliding doors, the Mardeco 8104 Euro Lock Set is the right product. For pull handle entrance doors, the OZI-3 roller latch mortice lock pairs with Nidus pull handles. All Nidus hardware carries a 10-year limited mechanical warranty and a 5-year limited finish warranty against tarnishing, flaking, or discolouration under normal residential use. Matte Black and Satin Brass carry a 12-month finish warranty. Venetian stainless steel products carry an extended finish warranty due to the durability of 304-grade stainless.
