What is a backset and how do I measure it? The backset is the distance from the edge of your door to the centre of the lock hole (snib). On a narrow door stile — common in cavity sliders and some aluminium frames — this is typically 35mm. Measure from the door's leading edge to where the lock sits, or will sit. If it's 50mm or more, you want our standard 8004 set instead.

What's the difference between the 35mm and the standard 8004 set? The standard Mardeco 8004 ships with an adjustable 50–55mm backset. This listing swaps that component for the 35mm brass lock slide (part BLS001/35), which is required for narrow door stiles that physically can't accommodate 50mm of clearance. Everything else in the set is identical.

Will this suit my cavity door? Yes — the 8004 is designed specifically for sliding and cavity doors. The flush-recessed design means the pull sits within the door face, so it clears the cavity frame pocket on both sides.

Can it be used on aluminium doors? Yes. The kit includes all fixings and fasteners for both timber and aluminium sliding doors.
