Description
Description
The Lockwood Velocity Spire (L2) is the curved showpiece of the Velocity range — a gently arcing lever with a bold upswept profile that brings a touch of architectural character to residential doors without sacrificing the everyday practicality Lockwood is known for. Designed in Australia for Australian homes, the Spire combines the same trusted Velocity rose system and 25-year mechanical warranty with a lever shape that draws the eye and elevates any interior.
Like all Velocity levers, the Spire arrives pre-assembled on a 63mm round rose with concealed fixings and a twist-and-tighten installation method that eliminates loose screws and visible hardware. It's the fastest, cleanest lever installation on the Australian market — and the result is a door fitting that looks like it was made for the space.
Lever profile — Spire L2
The Spire's defining characteristic is its upward arc — the lever rises from the rose before curving back to the return tip, giving it a taller, more dramatic silhouette than the straight Summit. This makes it a natural choice for homes with high ceilings, statement interiors, or architectural joinery where the door furniture is expected to be noticed. The profile is bold enough to be a design choice while remaining thoroughly residential in scale.

Whole-of-home compatibility
The Spire L2 lever profile is shared across the Lockwood Nexion Classic, Nexion Vision and Palladium entrance lockset ranges. If you're specifying the Spire for internal doors, you can run the identical lever shape on your front door entrance set, creating a truly unified look from front door to ensuite. It complements the Lockwood Paradigm 005 round deadbolt as part of a complete coordinated hardware package.
Installation
The Velocity Spire arrives pre-assembled. The twist-and-tighten rose mechanism seats the 63mm rose flush against the door face, with all fixings concealed beneath the removable rose trim. The rose fits both 50mm and 54mm door bore preparations, covering the full range of standard Australian door specs. No special tools are required. For professional installation across south-east Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, Lockmart's qualified locksmiths are available — ask at checkout or call 1300 730 539.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the Spire L2 differ from the Summit L1?
- The Summit L1 is a straight, gently tapered lever — clean and minimal. The Spire L2 has an upward arc, making it taller and more sculptural in profile. Both share the same rose dimensions and installation system; the choice is purely aesthetic.
- Is the Spire lever suitable for bathroom doors?
- Yes — order the privacy set, which includes a push-button snib on the inside face. The snib allows the door to be locked from the inside and released from the outside in an emergency using a coin or flat tool.
- What door thickness does the Velocity Spire suit?
- The Velocity Series is designed for 32mm and 45mm hinged doors, covering standard residential hollow-core and solid-core door thicknesses used across Australian homes and apartments.
- Can I match the Spire on my front entrance door?
- Yes. The L2 Spire lever is available as an option on Lockwood Nexion Classic and Nexion Vision entrance locksets, so you can run it as a coordinated suite from front door through to every internal door.
- Does the Spire come in Matt Black?
- Yes. The Matt Black (MBK) finish is available across all Velocity functions — passage, privacy and dummy. Matt Black is increasingly popular in new builds and renovations with dark cabinetry, black tapware and industrial or contemporary styling.
- Will the Spire fit over my existing door holes?
- The 63mm rose fits 50mm and 54mm bore holes — the two standard preparations used in Australian residential construction. In the vast majority of retrofit situations, the Spire will seat cleanly without any modification to the door.
- What does the 25-year warranty cover?
- Lockwood's 25-year mechanical warranty covers the lever mechanism, latch action and rose assembly against manufacturing defects. It does not cover finish wear or damage from misuse. It is among the longest mechanical warranties offered on residential door hardware in Australia.
